Hero Honda Hunk Bike

The Hero Honda Hunk is all set to get some more muscle to further enhance the appeal of this rather good looking bike. The changes are pretty minor but considerable by Hero Honda standards.

While the CBZ got a facelift some time back with some snazzy colour combinations, the Hunk was left untouched apart from the limited edition launched in between. It was time for the Hunk to get some more muscle, and it’s just not the paint job Hero Honda is famous for.
The new Hunk gets the following new features:
  • Digital Speedo Console with an analogue tachometer
  • Rear Disc Brake
  • Led Tail Lamp
  • New Front Fender Design
  • New Visor design
  • New exhaust shroud
  • Tubeless Tyres
  • Maintenance free battery
Last but not the least the typical Hero Honda upgrade, new graphic designs on the tank. The bike finally gets the digital console, led tail lamps, which have been available in the competition since quite a long time. The addition of rear disc brakes, tubeless tyres, and maintenance free battery makes Hunk a more attractive package.
As of now, Hero Honda has not released the pricing details but expect the bike to be priced higher than the outgoing model.
Stay tuned for more as we bring you more update on this machine.

Scooter market is automotive market in India with 57 lakh units sold this quarter. This segment mainly concentrates on ladies and urban market where people like stress-free riding. Scooters in India are not powerhouses as is in European Markets, where engine capacity exceeds 1000cc. Few of the early scooters like Kinetic Honda which slowly eroded Bajaj’s market share had self start as killer feature. These days even 100cc bikes have self starters and its no more marketable features. Manufacturers these days are looking to sell their products with features like front fueling, cellphone charger, underseat storage, etc.

Honda Shine 125cc to Honda CB Shine

Honda India has upgraded its Shine 125cc to Honda CB Shine. The launch was eventually clubbed with that of upgraded Unicorn too.
It has to be noted that the Honda CB Shine is obviously not a new model and it looks like a strategy by the Honda India to just rename all its bikes as Honda CB versions.
As the prices have gone high, Honda aspires to position itself as premium bike brand in the big Indian market. Although bike lovers come to an agreement that the features Honda offer are hardly any worthy as what is called premium as compared to what is offered by its adversaries.

With that being said what are new reasons for more shine on the new Honda CB Shine?
New 3D Honda Emblem on the fuel tank
New graphics
Handle bar weights
New viscous air filter
Maintenance-free battery
The new Honda CB Shine will now be compliant with the latest emission norms that came to effect from April 01, 2010.
Design and looks of the new Honda CB Shine
The fuel tank comes with supporting knew recess and neatly chiseled. The cap is retained as in the old, chrome and the new 3D Honda wing emblem on the fuel tank gives that edge coupled with the graphics that add to the elegance.
The new handle bar weights will add to the stability during a ride and gives extra control to the rider. The mirrors are tweaked to a trendier shape and the body-colored grab rail adds to the sheen while riding.
The Ergo-tec design is developed on the basis of human engineering to offer less fatigue and more comfortable seating and ride position for rider as well as pillion. The diamond-framed light weight design offers even distribution of weight on the bike and so there is extra stability and control.
Engine of the new Honda CB Shine
There is nothing new as to the power plant of the new Honda Shine. It runs on a 125cc ‘Optimax’ engine generating a power of 10.3 BHP. The Optimax Engine comes with tall gearing which is better than the previous version. The Honda claims that the Optimax is capable of generating maximum torque at low rpm, implying better pickup and mileage. As to the new Optimax engine, it is actually a 4-stroke, air-cooled and single-cylinder engine – nothing but scaled down variant of Unicorn engine. The engine takes off the bike from 0-60 km speed in 5.3 seconds.
The new viscous filter will enable to cut on the maintenance costs and Honda promises leakage-free and maintenance-free battery.
The rear tyre comes with patented tuff-up tube which is more puncture resistant. Additionally there is an option of front disc brakes which is more responsive than the conventional drum brakes. It also comes with self start option for convenient city ride.
Color choices and pricing of the new Honda CB Shine
The new Honda CB Shine comes in 5 shades:
Rebel Red Metallic
Geny Grey Metallic
Vibrant Blue Metallic
Black with red stripes
Black with grey stripes

Honda CB1000R-well and truly a wonderful machine

The Honda CB1000R is well and truly a wonderful machine, it's better than its predecessors in much the same way the CBR1000RR was compared to the 954RR a few years ago.

The 2010 Honda CB1000R brings it in line with the other motorcycles in the Honda model lineup, the CB1000R a motorcycle that is deceptive in its ability to go fast in comfort thanks to its supersport engine and light chassis.

Sitting on the new Honda CB1000R the difference is noticeable – the new Honda perches you 30 millimeters higher and when matched to the wide handlebars and low pegs, the CB1000R becomes almost dirtbike-like, with great leverage and stability.

2010 Honda CB1000R Official Pictures

My gripe about the top-soft rear suspension proved to be consistent with other riders who tested the CB1000R and the soft seat padding sinks to its base and makes for a rather uncomfortable ride – but these were the only major issues with the Honda CB1000R.

You can feel the superbike heritage in the Honda CB1000R – the engine produces waves of delicious torque that stays consistent once above 4000 rpm and the gearbox – once warm oil is flowing around the cases – provides beautifully smooth and solid gear changes – I say warm oil because the gearbox was rather clunky when cold.

The final ratio is tall. The Honda CB1000R would probably benefit from a single-tooth drop in the rear sprocket for a bit more snappy acceleration but power is still plentiful at almost any rev speed.

The Honda CB1000R's wheelbase is 15 millimeter shorter than the Yamaha FZ1, although it doesn't feel like it. The riding position is less cramped which gives the rider more room to move and those wider handlebars are great for slicing through twisty roads.

The Honda CB1000R looks tough and purposeful, with sleek bodywork that combines nicely with no odd bits sticking out where they shouldn't. And I love the single-sided swingarm. The CB1000R is no racebike – but it's hot.

The dash is good although the tacho is located too low to b e easily visible, but big clocks would have spoiled t. The Honda CB1000R could be a sign of things to come from Japan.

TVS Apache RTR 180 Vs Bajaj Pulsar 180 CC

On The Bike: Step out from the Pulsar and get into RTR, and you will feel let down by TVS’s quality. Cheap plastic buttons and error creeping speedometers along with ill fitting boots are a shame as rest of the interiors is nice.
The riding posture is forward set up in RTR 180 whereas Pulsars have normal ones. That brings altogether a huge difference in ride quality. A pillion rider will also feel more comfortable sitting on a RTR because of its forward set foot pegs and elegantly designed unique grab rails which are better than of pulsars. RTR’s specially developed race crouch mirrors provide better angle and safety besides looking great too.
Riding the RTR with its fluid Racing stripes will double your riding confidence. Their white theme tachometers along with an RTR 180 Racing logo are sure to set your pulse racing not to mention the RTR’s powerful engine.
The pulsar 180 on the other hand will not provide any such excitements. You just have to be satisfied with a dazzling Pulsar 3D logo and the aura which it carries on with itself. Both the motorcycles are equipped with a clip on handlebars feature which will enable you try various riding positions. The Pulsar 180 also has split seat for rider and the pillion.
